Tobacco Use Reduction Program (TURP)

Facebook image_thumb.jpg

Plumas County Public Health Agency’s Tobacco Use Reduction Program has a vision of a community where all individuals are healthy and free from problems related to tobacco. Our mission is to plan, coordinate and provide a continuum of tobacco prevention services that are responsive to the needs of Plumas County’s communities. We model our work on an “upstream” approach and use evidence-based research to guide our programs.

***Join the 20,000 Lives Tobacco Free Taskforce today! We meet every two months on the second Wednesday of the month at 12 pm at Public Health. Our next meeting is on February 20, lunch is provided! For more information call or email Leila at (530) 283-6457 or  ***

What are we working on?
Currently, TURP is working on educating the public about the tobacco industry’s use of flavors to target vulnerable populations (e.g. children and adolescents). Our TURP team is also providing technical assistance to several agencies in Plumas County to develop tobacco-free policies and has recently had success helping implement smoke-free policies at Eastern Plumas Health Care and Central Plumas Recreation and Park District. Additionally, our TURP team strongly believes in the capability of our county’s youth and is strengthening our youth as an asset to become future health equity leaders.
