GUIDE TO INTERACTING SAFELY WITH THE DEPARTMENT:
In an effort to limit personal contact with staff and other customers, we ask that you follow these guidelines when visiting our office for services:
MASKS ARE NOT OPTIONAL, BUT NECESSARY TO ENTER THE OFFICE FOR SERVICES
Limit of 6 customers at a time. This includes requests for vital statistic records such as birth, death and marriage certificates; obtaining a marriage license; official document recording or research and candidate services.
VITAL RECORDS: If you were born, married or have a death in Plumas County, we have your official record here. If not, you must obtain a certified copy from the county where the event occurred. There is a fast, easy way to obtain your certificate on the Clerk-Recorder Forms and Resources page. If you must come into the office, you will need to fill out the request form located at the office door of room 102 first, then come into the office to purchase it.
MARRIAGE LICENSE: You will have to call for an appointment 530-283-6218. You will then complete the online application located on the Clerk-Recorder page at marriage license application prior to your visit, print it and bring it in with you. Both parties will need to appear together to sign in person. Marriage licenses are valid for 90 days.
DOCUMENT RECORDING: We ask that you mail your documents in for recording with the proper recording fee (fee schedule listed on our webpage), along with a self-addressed, stamped return envelope. Document recording will be limited based on the number of customers present at the time.
RESEARCH: Research using the public computer index is from 11:00 - 2:00 daily. An index of those performing research will be kept that contains a names and phone number of the researcher. Multiple copy requests will be handled within 10 days.
CANDIDATE SERVICES: Candidate services will be by appointment only. Please call with any questions 530-283-6256.
FICTITIOUS BUSINESS NAME STATEMENTS: Complete the Fictitious Business Name Statement Form on the Clerk-Recorder and mail it in to the Clerk-Recorder, 520 Main Street, Room 102, Quincy, CA 95971 along with the proper fee (listed on the form). After filing, we will return your certified copy for your bank and publication. If you have questions, call us at 530-283-6218.
