24/7 Traffic Control to Start on State Route 89 South of Canyon Dam for Continued Slide Repair

Redding – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans District 2) and Hat Creek Construction & Materials, Inc. are preparing to begin continued slide repairs on State Route 89 in Plumas County.  The $1.22 million project will further address slide activity on SR 89 near Canyon Dam, approximately 0.4 mile of the Wolf Creek Underpass. Operations on the project include slope excavation and grading, debris removal, and placement of rock slope protection and erosion control.

Starting Wednesday, August 16th, motorists should plan for 24/7 traffic control in the area with up to 15-minute delays.  Motorists are urged to slow down and drive carefully in and around construction areas, follow speed limit reductions in place, and allot extra time for delays.  The project is currently anticipated to be completed by early October.

Construction projects are subject to changes without prior notice.  Caltrans and its contractors do our best to keep the public informed.  To stay up to date on highway projects, please follow us on Facebook and Twitter.   Project information can also be found on the District 2 webpage.  The public can also call (530) 225-3426 during working hours or send an email to D2PIO@dot.ca.gov.   Updated highway conditions for California can be found on QuickMap and on One-Stop-Shop for the Western U.S.
