Adult Protective Services provides direct intervention, remedial and case management services, and other types of support to dependent and elderly adults who are at risk or victims of abuse, neglect, exploitation or fiduciary abuse.
In-Home Supportive Services will help pay for services provided to you so that you can remain safely in your own home. To be eligible, you must be over 65 years of age, or disabled, or blind. Disabled children are also eligible for IHSS. IHSS is considered an alternative to out-of-home care, such as nursing homes or board and care facilities.
Public Guardian assists elderly, mentally disabled and developmentally disabled adults who are unable to care for themselves. The Public Guardian makes decisions for these adults and recognizes their right to self-determination and to honor, when known, the wishes of the individual.
